Triller is the new American TikTok, ready to join it?
TikTok has grown exponentially since 2018 with more than 2 billion downloads and has become a major social network among young people. But there is always opportunity for competition, and here is where Triller makes its appearance.
In our last post, we talked about how TikTok and Twitch can be a great opportunity for the digital growth of your business or brand.
However, since Tik Tok is banned in India and it is highly likely that it will exit the US market, users are looking for an alternative.
The Trump administration intends to eradicate Tik Tok and WeChat, both developed by Chinese companies, claiming that they are insecure and obtain sensitive data from users.
According to CNN, Tik Tok does not collect more information than Facebook or Google, yet the accusations that weigh on the app make its future in the United States not bright.
Because of this Triller is beginning to take big steps to compete with TikTok, and for the good of the American government, it is an absolutely American application. Eliminating all security concerns.
Will we witness a slowdown in Tik Tok’s penetration and an increase in downloads from its Triller counterpart? Time will tell. In the meantime, let’s see what it’s about.
What is Triller?
Triller is a social network launched in 2015 by David Leiberman and Sammy Rubin. As of August this year, it had 250 million downloads globally, according to Tech Crunch.
Triller was created for singers and musicians to spread their music through videos created by themselves and other users using dance steps and lipsync.
So far, Triller and Tik Tok are very similar. The biggest difference between the two lies in its video editing function.
In Triller, the user simply records clips synchronized to the music available in the application and the editing is done instantly and automatically.
Tik Tok is much more flexible when it comes to editing and adding other elements that yield incredible and creative results.
The biggest stars are already here
Being an application created with the aim of sharing music videos, several artists like Snoop Dog, Migos, and Lil Wayne endorsed it. Other celebrities like Sebastián Yatra or Ozuna are already using it.
Triller has among its allies major music labels, therefore, the application has a super extensive library of songs to use again and again.
In addition, big Tik Tok stars such as Josh Richards and Noah Beck have announced that they will leave the ByteDance application to join the North American one.
With the above, it is to be expected that we will see a great migration of users loyal to their TikToker stars and with this the attraction of marketers.
So, it is a good time to analyze if your brand can be here and in what way. As we said before: if your target audience is on the app and you have the spark to conquer them with your creativity, go for it!
What about marketing?
Triller allows you to add links to your profile to bring users to your website. If you have an online store, this interaction can pay off.
Or, if you have an active campaign this is a good place to attract new people to the landing page linked to your strategy.
Ads cannot be placed in the app at the moment, but you can collaborate with creators to promote your products, just like on TikTok.
Triller prefers to help its users by offering them a platform that helps them connect with brands determined to invest in them in exchange for dissemination and attraction of audiences.
The safest bet, however, is that sooner or later, Triller will have interesting options for advertisers.
So, should my brand be on Thriller?
The app is still growing, and its reach is still not as big as TikTok’s. But we do recommend you keep an eye out for it, as it might take a big leap as we said.
Take a look at the creators active in it, especially the famous ones. This will give you an idea of the users you can plan a collaboration with.
